Hello,

From noon until 2pm tomorrow (Wednesday, June 13) Lincoln City chairman Steff Wright will be available to answer your questions on the Imps.

If you have a question you want to ask Steff, leave your question here or, alternatively, email sports@lincolnshireecho.co.uk

This will be the second in a series of regular web chats to be held on sportsecho.co.uk.

Thanks,

Sam Parker

Why is it that all of the other clubs are making signings already and the Imps have yet to make a move - content instead to whisk themselves off on holiday while other managers get down to business?

Also, why did John Schofield get the job ahead of Notts man Steve Thompson last season - is it a decision you took lightly?

Thanks for taking the time - much appreciated,

Are Lincoln City's finances healthy, or is the club in the red

The Board, Trust Allies, Gold Members and L&DFSC hold the majority shareholding, John Deehan has sstated he can't compete with the big spending clubs without a millionare buying the club. With his views now known, how do you convince him that if things do not start well next season, your (majority shareholding) decisions will bring the promotion we want.

Mr Wright, the stadium sits on a prime site in Lincoln which must be attractive for property development, especially if the Tentacroft Street cross city link gets the go ahead. What long term plans are there for the site, do the club plan to move? If the club are to stay at Sincil Bank would it not be a good idea to see if the land along South Park could be purchased to help the club develop the site?

Hi Steff

Thanks for taking the time to come on here and answer some difficult questions.

My question is simply this, why are we not competing with other clubs in the transfer market? We have yet to add a player to the staff.

As a previous citizen of Norwich I watched as they added a number of players to the squad to get them into the premiership, which was a risk because of the high wages. However the gamble paid off and they have reaped the rewards, not least, a full house every season even in the Championship. Would be nice for us to take a similar, if slightly lesser, risk.

Many thanks for taking the time to answer these questions.

Could you explain the rational behind removing the 'student' season ticket this year, and confirm yes/no if there will be a NUS card entry on match days or if that also will be full price? I have been requested to ask that particular question.

Can you really see us being a force in league two in the coming season, given lack of movement in team stregthening to date. I understand there are targets identified and you cannot give names but are signings looking close and are they first choice targets for the two johns?

Can you tell us how far off the 60% of income wage cap, the club is running at?

Steff I think it's fantastic of you to come onto Sports Echo and answer questions as I don't think anyother chairman would do the same. I think these web chats are a fantastic idea.

As a long-serving fan, I think what you and the board have done over the past five years has been absolutely oustanding and would like you to keep up the good work.

However, time for my question. What have you done with that sumo suit?

Personally I think it would be absolutley superb if you could do an all-blacks style haka before every home game. That would really intimidate our opponents!

Having seen the likes of Frecklington, Hobbs and Loach progress through the youth ranks, the club must be congratulated for sticking with the youth set up, despite the well documented financial plight a few years ago.

It's a double question: are there any new gems coming through and do you think any of them will be challenging for a place in the first team in the coming season? And how important do you think it is to invest in the infrastructure of the club, despite the fact that a lot of football fans are only interested in now and demand instant success.

On a lighter note, have you ever seen Max & Paddy's - Road to nowhere?

Steff, here is a question from Nicholas Oxberry, aka Burtonwaters Imp:

Quote:
Well done for facing the fans' questions, a good idea in the light of the recent barrage of comments to the Echo's sports pages.

As a shareholder, I am privy to various bits of extra information re budgets etc, I was wondering if for the majority of the fans you give a rough idea how budgets for the playing side have increased since the dark days of administration and how - peterborough and mk dons aside - if you know if it compares well to other clubs in our division.

Also can you confirm roughly the figures -income wise- for sky games home and away for everybody in the normal league season,as play off games count as part of the

General contract.
Do you feel also that transfer fees not disclosed lead to much unecessary guessing by the fans?

Keep up the excellent work, most of which never gets noticed behind the scenes, as I well know.

Steff, here is a question from Mick Connon:

Quote:
As I am currently a mature full time nursing student, why has the club decided to change the policy on the Concessionary Season tickets as it only covers students aged 18-20 now? What was the reasoning behind this?

Thanks

Mick Connon

Steff,
Don't you think it was taking the Mickey out of the fans to say the least when you were quoted last week as saying " The supporters have got to be patient" in relation to promotion.
We have been patient for 5 long years.
Out of order I believe.
Your thoughts??

Hello,

As you'll be aware from the healthy number of questions to Steff Wright, the web chat will take place from noon-2pm today.

Just a word of warning: we want to ask Steff as many questions as possible, but postings will be moderated or taken off completely if they are unsuitable and contain foul or abusive language.

We'd also appreciate you keeping your questions short and to the point.

Steff has indicated he may be running a little late - if we hear any more we will let you know!

Hello again,

Steff is indeed running a little late today. However, we expect him here at the Echo offices in the next 20 minutes, so I will post again when the Imps' chairman is present.

Thanks,

Sam Parker.

Answer: Our management team are talking to a number of players and will make announcements as and when something materialises. They choose not to needlessly speculate in the media and I am quite comfortable with this approach.
The management team will be judged on their performance over the coming season and not on their ability to create headlines during the close season.

Steve Thompson was one of many managers we considered. However, we felt the best way forward for Lincoln City was to match the youth and enthusiasm of John Schofield with the more experienced John Deehan in a mentoring role.
