Mark, I'm devestated about the departure of Alan Marriott. I'm on the floor, I was so shocked. He's our best goalkeeper, why get rid of him. Get rid of Duffy. What do you think?

Alright mate, Mazza has gone, who we getting in? Someone has got to keep the net empty, Duffy is not going to.

Hi Mark,

what do you prefer reporting on? Cricket or football and why?

Also, where do you see Marriot ending up now and any rumours regarding possible new number one? Surely not Duffy?

As a Notts fan, I'd have nightmares if Marriott turned up at Meadow Lane, I think he is a poor keeper and vastly overated.

I'm all for shaking the squad up, but I can't see why he's let Mazza go. Is this so he's got more spare cash? Mazza had to be a top earner, didn't he?

Hi Mark....do you think Lincoln have retained a few too many players who should not get a sniff of first team football and do you think this will hamper our chances of making some quality signings.
Jacko was talking about a reduced number on the playing staff but surely there is still too much "dead wood" at the club.
what's your opinion?

Hello EssexImp and thanks for your question

I'm was disappointed too about the decision to release Marriott. He's been a superb servant to the club over the last nine years. I can just about remember his first game for the club.

I don't agree with offering contracts of sentiment, but Mazza, in my view, was worthy of another based purely on performance.
Yes, he's made a couple of mistakes this season, but I doubt you'll find a better keeper in League Two.
That said, I assume this decision has been made with another experienced keeper in mind.
As for Duffy, let's give him a chance before we start making a any rash judgements.

Slightly off topic, but do you or the writers ever get tempted to reply to comments on the stories? Perhaps even under a ghost name?
On topic, what is your favourite Cricket ground?

Hi happyimp

Good question. Mazza's departure has left some big shoes to fill. Surely the Imps must go for someone with bags of experience.
If I was manager, I would go for someone like Mark Tyer of Peterborough.
With Joe Lewis Posh's number one, I reckon Tyler might be on the lookout for a new club.
The big issue though is wages and can the Imps afford him? I imagine he'll be on few quid at London Road.

Hello ncfcimp

Cricket or football?
Cricket in the summer, football in the winter.
It depends. It's always more enjoyable if Lincs or the Imps are winning.
I do more football than cricket and that is the right balance for me.
I have been looking forward to the cricket season for a while because it's been hard work watching City this season.

As for Mazza, I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at Macclesfield with Keith Alexander, who clearly rates him highly. Or how about Notts County? He's looking to stay in the area so that could be an ideal move for him.

So you think he's a poor keeper? Have you ever seen him play?
Notts can do a lot worse. And after the season you've just had, the only thing Notts seem to have going for them is a tight defence, especially with Michael Johnson signing for next season.
Mazza would thrive in that environment as he did when the Imps had one of tightest defences in the country a few years back.

Hi WestsideImp

Clearly, Marriott's departure will free up some cash as he was one of the top earners. But you pay for what you get and in my view Marriott is a top lower league keeper.

Like you, I've very surprised about the decision.

Hello there

For those of you who don't know, salfordimp sent me a box of Bovril after I revealed, on our Big Match Live service, that I'd never tried any before. It was very nice, although I had a bit of trouble offering it around the office.

Unfortunately, they don't serve it at cricket, it's more tea and cake.

Hi Whiley

Two great wins for the cricket team so far this summer, how do you see them faring over the season?

Can they bring the county some silverware?

I feel sorry for Mazza being only one season away from a testimonial but unless he has players like McCauley or McCombe in front of him then I think he has been exposed last couple of seasons.

Anyway Mark, how do you think you would fare if like footballers you had to have your contract renewed every year or two?

Hello redimps

Danny Crow is a decent shout, but I would take Boulding over him any day. He's quality and to score around 25 goals in a very poor side is an amazing effort.
I'd also take Matt Hamshaw from Mansfield and I wonder if a couple of the lads just released from Huddersfield, Danny Schofield and Chris Brandon, are interesting the Imps?

Overall, I would like to see a centre back, left back, two wingers, a central midfielder and at least one striker signed.

Oh yeah and now a keeper!

Only speculating but I would be surprised if this is the end of the departures. For those like Amoo & Brown under contract then I guess some negotiations have to be done before anything can happen
