G'day

I'll be in the Big Match Live hotseat for today's game between the Imps and Brentford.
Let's make it a good one. I'm doing the firewalk later, so this could be my last.

I'll be back on online at about 2.30.

Cheers!

Good afternoon and welcome to the Big Match Live for the Imps against Brentford.

The big team news is that Gary King starts as does Ayden Duffy with Alan Marriott out with his hamstring injury.

Wright and Forrester also starting, I wonder where King is going to fit in. I guess on the right of midfield, unless Forrester plays there.

I'm not a fan of playing strikers out wide, but we'll see how he gets on.

Simon Brown is in goal for Brentford. Remember him?

G'day Mark - love the new picture

Lots of youngsters in the squad today. Bit disappointed that Iffy has not taken the opportunity to play a back four of Green, Moses, Hone, Ridley. Would have been interesting to see how Hone and Moses worked together, particularly with our tendency to allow players to get onto balls over the back four. Still, maybe he's still tinkering as part of the planning for next season.
Lets hope for a good performance today.

Hello mate.

It would be nice to finish above that lot. There's not a lot else to aim for.

Good afternoon sir.

Not a bad shout that, but Beevers is skipper so he's not going to be dropped.
He'll be one of the few players who will be in the team come the start of next season.

As for the picture, after it was taken I skinned four players before smashing it in the top corner from 40 yards. Honest.

As there's not a lot riding on this game, I'm regarding it as the prelude to the firewalk which is taking place tonight.
It's raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support, so if you're in the area, pop along.
It's happening at 8pm.

I've never done one before. Does anyone have any tips?

That's the one. I prefer to remember that game for Lee Thorpe's goal which he directed home via his backside.

Brentford kick off attacking the Stacey West end. It's very quiet.

Alan Connell goes close for Brentford as his shot is fumbled round the post by Duffy.
From the corner, the Imps keeper makes a far more convincing save from Nathan Elder's header, holding it well.

At the other end, Beevers blazes miles over.

After poor defending from Croft, Dickson drills wide of the far post.
It's been an open start.
